Detail is the key element to define that architecture is an idea process not a picture. It is the great “art” to balance between the necessary and the unnecessary, both in the micro and in the overall structure that determines the particular physiognomy of the architecture.
Detail is the decision to pick from a range of available materials and techniques, those, that from the beginning determine the idea of the building and are born with it. That is, when the inorganic material is transformed into an organic component of the idea, like the houses in Cyclades are built with elegant simplicity , harmony, balance , grace , and minimal intervention to which, it is entrusted the preservation and promotion of both the local diversity and the historical memory.
"Sometimes it seemed to me that an impression of beauty was born through precision, and that, from the almost miraculous agreement between an object and the service it is charged to perform, a kind of pleasure springs from it. This perfect fit moves in our soul the feeling that there is some affinity between the beautiful and the useful, and that the final ease and simplicity of the result, when we compare them with the complex problem that preceded, give us one, how to say it? excitement. "Unexpected elegance intoxicates us." Paul Valéry, Efpalinos or The Architect.
