Ethics, at its core, begins with the act of considering the other: the body of water that lies ahead, the soil and its microscopic inhabitants, the light that shifts from morning to afternoon, and the possibility that a tree may cross the space without disturbing the nests of birds. It also means creating the best possible conditions to gaze at the sky through the ever-changing canopy.

As a physical phenomenon, architecture has the power to amplify imagination and heighten our sensitivity to place. From the beginning, we asked whether, in the language of the great existing stones, we might find the most genuine conditions to establish a relationship with all the elements that compose a landscape.

In Casa Nola, located in Cachipay, Colombia, the answer lies in the delicate balance between the need to adapt to the natural environment and the desire to work with the energy already present there. The project proposes an architecture with its own specific gravity—one that avoids picturesque gestures and instead allows itself to be permeated by the elements, by air, light, and the strength of its surroundings. It becomes a kind of pact with simplicity and the essential.

To ascend, descend, float, recline, enter, or exit—these actions speak about the body's relationship with space. During the project's conception, there was a conscious understanding of movement and natural order: to move around the great stone, to seek shelter within a mass of fired clay, to walk across the roofs, to extend oneself over the terrace, to pause and observe.

Architecture, in this sense, becomes enchanting when it allows itself to be inhabited not only by people but also by the elements. It perceives space as sequence, transition, and pause, responding instinctively to geography, to the rhythms of light and water, and to the quiet possibility of nature passing through it without resistance.
