本案基地狹長、略向後方傾斜，三面皆被公寓和墓園所圍繞。茂密植被自附近墓地肆意蔓延至基地之中，幾乎模糊區域邊界，使基地彷彿也成了墓園的一部分。在特殊的環境條件下，沖繩傳統的多窗、開放式建築較不合適，因此設計師轉而選用採光良好、開放，又能與四周保持適當距離的建築形態。設計師期望此屋外觀凜然，在環境中自持而立，內部則明亮而靜謐莊嚴，不受外界干擾，並期許此建築能憑藉其特殊型態，不論經歷時光荏苒、居者更替或用途變遷，仍能長久留存此地。

This residence was designed for a married couple, situated on a long, narrow site that slopes gently toward the back. Surrounded on three sides by apartments and a cemetery, the adjacent cemetery—with its overgrown plants spilling into the site—blurred boundaries and made the land feel like part of the cemetery itself. Given these conditions, an "Okinawa-like" style with large openings felt inappropriate. Instead, the design team envisioned a bright, open architecture that maintains distance from its surroundings—a building with a dignified presence and a bright, austere interior, unaffected by external context. It was intended to have a spatial quality that endures beyond its original function—architecture that can remain meaningful over time, even after the owner or use changes.

為了應對傾斜的地勢，建築結構劃分三層，並以階梯狀的擋土牆為基礎，上方建構形似神龕的長方金字塔型量體。材料選用琉球石灰岩，此材質堅實有力，即便土地隨時間流逝侵蝕，建築依舊能穩佇此處，而封閉的塔形結構穩定，兼具隱私與莊嚴感。除了必要支撐點以外，團隊在不破壞穩定性的前提下，於基底與屋頂設計開口，引光入室。建築內部空間配置簡潔清晰：第一層設有浴室與玄關，集中處理管線配置；次層下降一公尺，設有客廳、餐廳與書房；第三層則為臥室與其他私人空間。天窗灑落下的陽光和溫潤木質，在這座遺跡般的冷冽混凝土量體中，注入溫馨氛圍。

The gently sloped terrain was organized into three stepped platforms, with retaining walls forming two rows of foundation lines. A square pyramid was placed, reminiscent of a portable shrine. The square pyramid lifted from the hard Ryukyu limestone layer has a powerful form that will continue to stand there even if the surrounding earth were to erode. The closed pyramid is not only structurally stable, but also private and dignified. While responding to the site's conditions, limited openings in the foundation and roof introduce a sense of calm without compromising the structure's solidity. The interior follows a simple composition. The first level contains the bathroom and entry, efficiently organizing plumbing. One meter down is the living/dining area and study; the third, rearmost level houses the bedroom and private rooms. Living spaces are composed under a skylight, wrapped in wood within a monolithic concrete form, like inhabiting a ruin.

此宅初期本是基於當地氣候與環境等條件設計，最終卻無意間卻帶有金字塔般肅然的氛圍。一如沖繩古墓的傳統設計，莊重而精緻，且結構能抵禦嚴峻氣候。望著此屋，彷彿感受到當中蘊藏的沖繩歷史與文化，在冷峻的外表下，散發沉穩、內斂的獨特氣質。

Okinawan tombs are splendid, built to withstand the island's climate and endure for generations. They serve as places of gathering and reverence, reflecting ancient wisdom and cultural continuity. The completed building came out looking somewhat like a pyramid or a tomb. The shape of the building was derived from considerations of Okinawa's climate, wind and rain, the surrounding environment, and the budget. However, when the designer saw the completed structure, it felt as though it was imbued with the sense of permanence and festivity that Okinawa's ancestors instilled in their tombs. Although the form may seem bizarre, this concrete house resulted in graceful Okinawan character.
