Suna Arquitetura

The project was designed for a couple seeking to blend contrasting references — countryside and beach — and who found in Angra dos Reis the ideal topography and vegetation. The presence of the mountains and the canal guided the openings, flows, and positioning of the structure. The Wall House is organized around a single defining line: an 80-meter wall that stretches across the entire plot, from the entrance to the navigable canal. This element defines the structure, organizes the program, and unifies the project. On one side, the technical areas: service spaces, functional circulation, and systems. On the other, the living experience — pool, lounge, landscape.

On the lower level, everything that serves the house is hidden behind the wall. Above, a suspended volume houses the private quarters. The main living room occupies the void between these two elements, with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors that fully retract into the wall itself. The architecture allows the space to open seamlessly to the outdoors. The material palette is direct and expressive: exposed concrete, pressed bamboo, and Brazilian marble. The structure employs post-tensioning to span distances of up to 12.5 meters and cantilevers of 6.5 meters. At the same time, vernacular techniques were preserved — ribbed formwork, native wood supports, and simple, precise solutions.

Among the project's standout elements are the swimming pool with a helical ramp, designed for elderly accessibility, and bathrooms with retractable roofs that allow full ventilation and openness. More than a formal gesture, the wall is a strategy: structure, program, technical concealment, and architectural language. Everything unfolds from it.
