The Shenzhen Science & Technology Museum is dedicated to scientific exploration, research achievements, and technological innovation. As a key cultural destination, the museum collaborates with local tech industries, universities, and research institutions to foster a vibrant ecosystem of innovation.

Located next to Guangming Station, the striking spherical form defines the southeast corner of the new Science Park. The structure extends westward into the park, unfolding into a series of fluid, terraced platforms that expand the exhibition space into the outdoors. At its heart is a vast central atrium—an open civic space where architecture and nature seamlessly converge. With a fully glazed façade framing expansive park views, the atrium dissolves the boundary between inside and out, establishing a dynamic public hub for the city.

Spanning 128,276 square meters, the museum includes 35,000 square meters of permanent and temporary exhibition space, 6,000 square meters for immersive theaters and cinemas, and 5,400 square meters for research, education, and innovation.

Complementary areas include visitor services, technical support, and workshop facilities. The spatial layout is designed for intuitive navigation, guiding visitors through interconnected galleries that flow from and around the central atrium. With its generous scale, ever-shifting perspectives, and abundant natural light, the atrium forms a grand and inviting entrance to the museum experience.

Sustainability is a key driver of the design. Advanced digital simulations were used to optimize the building's massing and envelope for Shenzhen's subtropical climate. The building's orientation reduces solar heat gain while preserving park views, and the multi-level terraces provide shading as well as outdoor resting spaces—enhancing comfort and energy efficiency. The ventilated stainless steel façade minimizes heat build-up and extends to the rooftop, where integrated photovoltaic panels contribute to on-site energy generation

This façade marks China's first large-scale use of dual-color INCO technology, producing a nano-scale oxide film through precise oxidation. The result is a self-cleaning, corrosion-resistant surface with a subtle gradient that shifts from deep blue to grey, evoking the motion of celestial bodies.

The project adopted a digital twin process combining BIM and 3D scanning to manage the complex geometry in real time. Robotic multi-point forming technology further enabled the accurate realization of the building's dynamic structure—faithfully translating design into built form.
