The Town Hall building is located in the town square, in front of the church. The project aims to rehabilitate and expand the original building, which has a square floor plan and a characteristic rural farmhouse architecture with exposed ashlar masonry elements. Its shortcomings in terms of accessibility and energy efficiency prompted a complete renovation and a 50% increase in its usable area.

The design submitted to the competition emphasizes a respectful dialogue with the pre-existence, maintaining the structure of the building and its most characteristic features, such as the façade openings and its materiality, while adding a new, clearly differentiated body. Inside, a north-south communication axis is generated, so that the elevator is located in the existing building and the staircase in the extended part. The roof is understood as the unifying element of the entire project and the elevator shaft acts as a light well.

The extension is designed with a polyhedral and abstract volumetry, clearly different from the existing architecture, and which claims its condition as an annex volume with a contemporary language through a skin of vertical slats that leaves the façade openings in the background. This new volumetry is present as a veil that only allows glimpses of some of the openings behind a continuous wood paneling. In this way, it has been sought that the new openings are behind the veil and do not distort the original composition.

The design of the volume is sculpted by reacting on the first floor to the urban pedestrian routes through the chamfers of the corners, and, on the other hand, its slatted wood gives a changing and warm texture that mutates with the lights and shadows throughout the day and varies with the seasons of the year.
