作為當地都市再生計畫的關鍵環節，此案座落於首爾倉洞區的核心地帶。不僅致敬當代攝影藝術，更深刻展現了跨文化建築對話的深度與可能性，是一項融合文化敘事與建築理念的經典之作。

In the heart of Seoul's Chang-dong district, an ambitious cultural and architectural endeavor has taken form through a remarkable partnership between Austrian architect Mladen Jadrić and South Korean architect Yoon Geun Ju, who have collaborated to create the new Photographic Art Museum, part of the Chang-dong urban regeneration project, which is not only a celebration of contemporary photography but also a testament to intercultural architectural dialogue.

博物館以富有動態感，兼具前瞻性的公共空間為設計理念，巧妙地串聯起東西方、過去與未來的文化語彙。其中，最引人矚目的設計亮點，莫過於其大膽且具雕塑感的立面體。外觀猶如「凝結瞬間的照片」，呈現照片被滑動時的動態張力。整體造型象徵快門定格的瞬間，精準呼應了建築與攝影共同的「凝固時間」特質。

Designed as a dynamic, forward-looking public space, the museum's concept bridges East and West, past and future. One of the most striking features of the building is its bold, sculptural façade. Its unique exterior embodies the "frozen moment" of a photograph and conveys a dynamic impression, as if each sheet of photographic paper were gliding. The lively design of the museum symbolizes a snapshot, a characteristic that architecture and photography share.

攝影是一門「以光作畫的藝術」，設計團隊將量體外立面以亮灰色橫向金屬板包覆。此立面能隨著光線變化與觀者角度呈現不同樣貌，呼應攝影本身具有流動性與多變性的特質；覆層的細緻穿孔圖樣則以韓國傳統織品紋理與當代數位影像為靈感，使文化傳承與現代創新在此完美和諧共融；建築內部以開放的空間語彙構築而成，使光線得以在展廳中自然流動，營造出探索與發現的氛圍節奏。此外，也體現了讓建築同時成為藝術品本身與藝術載體的「雙重曝光」核心理念。多層次的空間結構、通透的視覺關係與光影交錯的變化，以此表達攝影作品所探討的主題與意象。

Since photography is "painting with light," light and color were emphasized in the spatial composition. Wrapped in bright grey horizontal panels, the exterior is designed to change appearance depending on the light and viewer's angle—an homage to the shifting nature of photography itself. The cladding's perforations reference both traditional Korean textile patterns and contemporary digital imagery, subtly merging heritage with innovation.

Inside, the architecture is fluid and inviting. Light-filled exhibition halls flow into one another, creating a sense of openness and discovery. The architects embraced a "double exposure" concept: the building is simultaneously an art object and a frame for art. Spatial layers, visual transparency, and a play of shadows mirror the photographic themes exhibited within.

「以人為本、具彈性的公共空間」為本案的共同願景，結合了西方設計師強調情境意識與實驗精神的視角，以及東方設計師所具備的在地知識、社群整合策略與對場域脈絡的敏銳感知。兩者達成相互尊重與互補的平衡，展現了建築如何跨越國界，創造出兼具功能、美感與文化共鳴的空間，為城市肌理注入更深層的豐富與意義。

The success of this project owes much to the synergy between architects Mladen Jadrić and Yoon Geunju. Their shared vision for a people-centered, flexible public space was shaped by mutual respect and complementary approaches. Jadrić brought with him a European design sensibility grounded in contextual awareness and experimental form. Yoon contributed local knowledge, community integration strategies, and sensitivity to site-specific needs.Their collaboration demonstrates how architecture can transcend borders, creating spaces that are not only functional and beautiful but also culturally resonant. It's a model for future projects where international expertise and local insight combine to enrich the urban fabric.

本案不僅是一座收藏攝影藝術的殿堂，更是一場跨越地域、文化與世代的「流動性對話」，是一個被具象化的共同願景。

As the museum opens its doors, it stands not only as a repository of photographic art but also as a living dialogue between architects, cultures, and generations. In this way, the Photographic Art Museum in Seoul is more than a building; it is a shared vision made visible.
