The project is located in northern Lousada, an area undergoing growth through new residential clusters, cultural spaces, and an expanded road network integrated with existing infrastructure. The intervention site benefits from a strong cultural dynamic, supported by the Music Conservatory and the recently opened Romanesque Interpretation Centre, which has contributed to the area's revitalisation and reinforced its identity as an emerging cultural district.

Building on the surrounding context and the planned Romanesque Square behind the Romanesque Interpretation Centre, the site was identified as the ideal location for Lousada's new intermodal transport hub. The project aims to enhance urban mobility while preserving the town's calm and authentic character. Conceived as a ''silent inhabitant,'' the building asserts a clear presence without disrupting pedestrian or vehicular movement. Positioned close to the town centre yet outside its historic core, it maintains direct access to key regional routes, preventing bus traffic from congesting central areas and strengthening connections with neighbouring municipalities. The building follows a clear form follows-function approach, providing a sheltered waiting area and enabling efficient boarding and disembarking without interfering with surrounding traffic flows. Designed with a single point of contact with the ground, the structure minimises its footprint and visually frees the surrounding space. A lightweight roof defines the project's identity, with approximately 35% of its surface glazed to ensure transparency and a sense of urban permeability. The internal programme is reduced to three essential functions: a waiting area, storage, and sanitary facilities. The approximately 30 m² waiting area is furnished with aluminium benches and wall-mounted screens providing travel information, with direct access to a restricted storage space and a public restroom equipped with a self-cleaning system. Limited to operational necessities, the project prioritises clarity and efficiency while introducing a contemporary architectural presence that enhances the site and establishes the transport hub as a new urban reference point within Lousada.
