Iyari is a single-family housing project designed to harmonize with steep topography while enhancing sensory experiences. Prioritizing the sea view, the design minimizes intervention in this visual connection. Built on a steep slope, the structure unfolds across three levels, like a fan, adapting to the terrain and creating habitable clearings. This concise approach integrates clear intentions, materiality, and structure, with each level opening toward the ocean. While its sculptural form is striking, the project aims to blend seamlessly with the surrounding mountain, ensuring adaptability and a natural connection to its environment.

The footprint allowed for construction was highly constrained by the objectives of the architectural program. Nevertheless, the design managed to integrate a comprehensive set of spaces meeting the inhabitants' basic needs while incorporating gardens that visually extend to different points, ensuring spatial democracy and providing each room with a distinct experience. A staircase connects to the social area, where the footprint of the built space extends toward a terrace with an expansive open area. One side houses services such as the kitchen, laundry, and bathrooms, naturally ventilated and illuminated through a patio.

Development in the area prioritizes low impact, defined by strict polygonal boundaries that set clear restrictions. The design minimizes its presence by avoiding prominent volumes, particularly on uneven terrain. Upon entering, the concrete volumes' sculptural forms guide visitors to the ultimate view: as the door opens, the sea reveals itself. To the left lies the volume housing the rooms, while descending leads to the social area, with services positioned further back. A girder structure with a pitched roof spans a significant distance, while a wall doubling as a beam avoids the tunnel vision effect, creating a 180-degree opening.

This design mimics vegetation, ensuring the rooms feel open rather than enclosed. Volumes without direct window access incorporate patios for natural ventilation and lighting, mitigating a cave-like atmosphere. From the kitchen, a view of the sea unfolds, complementing the simplicity of the rooms, which are discreetly designed to fit the limited footprint. The main room, on a lower level, features a larger scale and integrates seamlessly into the diagonal structural framework.
