Unlike the bustling cafes and restaurants near Donghaksa's entrance, this café is situated in a quiet village nearby. The site offers expansive, uninterrupted views framed by the calm peaks of Gyeryongsan Mountain. This tranquil setting shaped the architectural direction, focusing on crafting a vessel that harmoniously embraces the surrounding landscape.

The site consists of two levels: the parking lot occupies the lower level for easy vehicle access, while the building itself is placed on the higher level to enhance visibility and maximize views of the landscape. Visitors are guided into the building from the parking lot by two long walls flanking a staircase. Additionally, a gentle slope at the back of the parking lot serves as an accessibility ramp, softly connecting the site with the land in an architectural gesture reminiscent of a hiking trail. To fully embrace the panoramic view, the building was horizontally extended to the maximum allowable width under the Natural Park Act. However, the initial linear structure felt somewhat monotonous and passive in relation to the surrounding environment. To address this, the design was adjusted, bending the structure into a 140-degree angle, forming two wings that actively engage with the landscape.

The dynamic form of the wings, appearing to soar forward, adds a sculptural quality to the structure while introducing a subtle rhythm to the otherwise static village. Concrete eaves wrap around the building, framing the natural scenery from within and emphasizing the building's form from the outside. Separate spaces on the ground floor enhance the floating sensation of the second-floor wings, while ecological landscaping at the rear contrasts with the natural surroundings and draws visitors'attention. Lighting, a key element for commercial spaces, is carefully designed to follow the unique lines of the building without overwhelming its form. As time passes and darkness falls, the sharp architectural lines of midday dissolve, redefined by light to reveal a new dimension of the structure. The building's restrained exterior harmonizes with its surroundings, while the interior eschews excessive decorative elements, instead adorned with paintings depicting the ever-changing scenery of Gyeryongsan Mountain. This café serves as more than just a commercial space—it is a tranquil vessel for embracing nature, offering visitors a moment of peace and serenity.
