日本長野 地舟穴居
白樺湖水色映襯山林輪廓，構成一處優美的自然景觀。本案為一座靜靜置身於湖畔森林旁的木構小屋，設計重心並不在於建築本身，而是如何讓生活回到自然之中。以「遁入自然」作為核心理念，提供一處能暫時抽離城市節奏，使人在自然的純粹中尋回平靜的場域。
Set along the forested edge of Lake Shirakaba, Earthboat Cave is a compact timber retreat with an outdoor living space set within nature. Built entirely from Japanese cedar CLT installed without foundations, the cabin rests lightly on the ground, leaving the terrain undamaged. Large openings frame the landscape, with one facing the lake's most striking view. A sauna, outdoor steps, and small fireplaces extend to outside, allowing visitors to stay within the landscape. The cabin provides a moment to ''escape'' into nature.
全案以日本杉木交叉層疊材構成，量體並未設置地基，以最小接觸介入地景，使原有地景得以完整保留，同時保有未來移動或重新配置的彈性。設計核心圍繞著「戶外生活」展開，不同於封閉的避難空間，更是一個將生活延展向外的場域。包括可直接由戶外進出的桑拿，在山區微涼的氣候中提供舒適溫度；環繞量體延伸的階梯與小型壁爐，供停留、聚集與休息，使人得以長時間停留於自然之中，靜靜享受短暫逃離日常的時光。
Earthboat Cave is a compact timber accommodation quietly embedded within the lakeside forest of Shirakabako. Developed under the concept of "nature escape," the project reflects Earthboat's philosophy of offering refuge from dense urban life and encouraging reconnection with the natural environment. Constructed entirely from Japanese cedar cross-laminated timber (CLT), the structure conveys both warmth and solidity through its material presence. Interior surfaces are left exposed, allowing the cedar to age naturally and register the passage of time. Installed without foundations, the cabin touches the ground lightly, preserving the landscape beneath and allowing for potential relocation. The design centers on outdoor living rather than enclosure, supporting a way of life that unfolds beyond the walls. A small sauna, accessed directly from the open air, provides warmth against the mountain climate, while surrounding steps and fireplaces create spaces for gathering and rest outdoors. The building acts as a quiet anchor, offering comfort and shelter while encouraging longer stays immersed in nature.
室內鋪設著未經過度修飾的日本杉木，隨著時間推移，木材自然老化，原始紋理與色澤為空間營造溫潤而安定的氛圍，記錄著時光拂過的痕跡，如同一個寧靜的錨點，使人願意在自然中停留。空間機能配置雖簡便，仍涵蓋起居生活所需的基本使用需求；墻面配置大面積開口，將森林景深與白樺湖最具代表性的視角納入室內視野。光線自多處開口引入，在空間中呈現四季更迭的變化。從桑拿到戶外生活空間，每一項元素皆順應周遭環境配置，提升人對自然節奏的感知，使人得以放慢步調，傾聽風、光與時間的流動。此案延續著對小尺度、可移動式交叉層疊材建築的探索，於日本多樣地景的脈絡中，透過輕量的量體形式，重新思考旅宿空間的可能性。每一作品皆回應所在環境，同時傳遞著遁入自然的核心精神。
Inside, the atmosphere is calm and tactile. A large window frames the lake at its most scenic point, turning the interior into a continuation of the outdoors. The layout is deliberately simple, accommodating cooking, rest, and quiet observation. Light enters through multiple openings, shifting in tone throughout the day and responding subtly to changes in weather. The architecture maintains a quiet presence. Rather than asserting itself, it sits modestly among the trees, allowing nature to remain the primary experience. From the sauna to the outdoor living areas, each element is designed to heighten awareness of the surroundings and attune visitors to the rhythms of the natural world. Earthboat Cave continues the Earthboat series, which explores how small, mobile CLT structures can foster new forms of hospitality within Japan's landscapes. Each project responds to its setting while sharing the ethos of ''nature escape,'' offering moments to slow down and reconnect with the quiet cadence of the landscape.
